An overcrowded sewerage polluted health hazard

This spot is now totally spoilt from being overexposed on social media it’s such a shame as it was once a lovely quiet peaceful spot, still great to start the walk to the zoo though.
Also sewerage obviously seeps out into the cove and the adjacent smaller beach with the scouts hut on it. The main beach was so crowded with people and overrun with dogs that we went to the smaller beach for a picnic but just had to abandon that as the smell was so atrocious.

A beautiful little park and beach

We came here on a walk from Mosman ferry to Taronga Zoo ferry wharf. The cove is a beautiful spot for a picnic with plenty of space and a lovely little beach A truly lovely part of Sydney.

Awesome place to bring the kids!

This is a dog friendly park, so be aware that dogs like food. Stick to the picnic tables if you dont want doggies to share your lunch.

Perfect for your furry friends

This is one of the best places close to Sydney and right on the harbour to take your dogs. It’s a lovely flat patch of grass with plenty of trees for shade that leads directly down to the water.
Everyone who goes there has dogs and most come prepared. Unfortunately we didn’t, having assumed there would be a cafe of some sorts where we could find some food. But nonetheless the dogs had loads of fun running on the grass, running on the sand, having a quick dip in the water to cool down and then off to repeat the routine. There’s dogs of all sizes and shapes, including on the boats anchored in the bay. And they were all very socialized when we were there so everyone had a good time.
And the park is part of an area where you can walk around the various points and bays on the lower north shore to really see the area and the harbour.
Next time we return though we’re bringing chairs, a picnic rug and our own food for lunch!!

Great walk steeped in history and beauty!

Such a beautiful walk taking in Curlew Camp where our famous painters Streeton, Roberts and Russell painted. Not overly strenuous but great exercise walking around the cove, up steps around points to next cove all way to Kirribilli where we really enjoyed a well earned lemon, lime and bitters!
From Circular Quay to Taronga to Kirribilli, then Luna Park ferry to Balmain, 15kms!

Nice breakaway attraction

This location is made convenient by the proximity from Taronga Zoo and nearby wharf cum bus stop. From there, walking 10 to 15 minutes on the left (towards direction of zoo entrance) along the footpath will see a small beach and Sirius Cove Reserve. Many gardening volunteers work there to ensure this area is at tip top condition. Dog lovers can also enjoy walking their dogs to the dog beach to meet with other dog owners.
Good for short break and great view of the harbour.
