First time back since lockdown

First time back since lockdown and the food and service, yet again did not disappoint. There is no wonder this is our favourite restaurant. Food was consistently amazing and fresh. The meals are not cheap but well worth the money. The service was impeccable and the chicken Katsu was so good as was the short ribs. Can’t go wrong.

Great Nigiri

Ate here on a Sunday evening at around 8:30. I had booked through open table but upon arrival they didn’t have any record of our booking. It was quiet so we were still able to get seated right away and even outside, so it wasnt a big deal, although unsure why the booking hadn’t worked. The food and service was excellent! I had the prawn dumplings to start which were really good, and a pretty big portion so could have easily been shared. Ordered the mixed nigiri (small) and it was fantastic. Really fresh and looked great. Everything our party had was great! I’d eaten in the Sydney restaurant a few years back and was impressed then, so glad when I saw one in Melbourne and it did not disappoint. Great restaurant, excellent food and service and a fantastic view sat outside by the river. Would highly recommend.

Saturday lunch

I just love the food here. We opted for lunch on a day and night in Melbourne at Sake. It is just the best venue for numerous reasons and perfect for a lunch. We had lots of different share plates all fish and vegetarian. I can really recommend the vegetable Tempura but to be honest I loved everything as did my partner. We had a really relaxing time on a very busy Southbank. We left with a warm happy glow from the amazing food, wine and sensational service.

Great venue and food

December 2019 & January 2020 I have been to this restaurant twice - once for dinner [Dec] and the other for lunch [Jan]. I am writing about both visits so you can know about the differences. Dinner 2019: On a warm December night my friend and I went to celebrate Christmas together and chose to have the $65pp Ume No Hana set menu that gave you a wide selection of foods from the menu. The menu consisted of: White soy snapper, shumai, nasu dengaku, chicken yakitori, seasonal whitefish tempura, corn, spicy tuna makimono, miso soup and ice cream. Plus 2 glasses of wine which are small servings and expensive. We also had some green tea. There was definitely enough food to leave the restaurant satisfied. I recommend the set menus if you can afford them as it works out cheaper and you can try items on the menu you may want to eat next time on their own. We both greatly enjoyed all the items on the set menu. Lunch 2020: This time I chose some of the small entree sized options - the prawn dumplings and the special scallop drink. Also had some green tea. We also got given a scoop of raspberry ice cream for my friends birthday. A nice touch. Thank you. Love thermosphere of this restaurant and the staff are great.
