Quirky, great food, great service, with views
This is a really great little restaurant slightly off the beaten track - they are not open for dinner but I have eaten here half a dozen times and have never been disappointed.
Any time snacks
Baked has a delightful location on the Tweed River at the southern end of Wharf Street. Tasty pastries, snacks and meals along with a wide variety of coffee or tea and other drinks to accompany. Seating indoors, overlooking the river and marina or outdoors on the grass - caters to all customers and popular with families. Well worth a visit.
Fabulous cafe, right on the river
We've visited Baked at Ancora several times for breakfast and morning tea. One morning, we saw dolphins swimming past on the river! It's the ideal place to take visitors or just enjoy a relaxed, delicious, fresh breakfast. The baked goods are sensational too!
We arrived early for the Tweed Eco Cruise and discovered Baked as we explored the area. The pastries are amazing. We also enjoyed watching the fish in the river.
Brilliant new bakery cafe
Baked 118 Wharf Street Tweed Heads If this morning’s pre-opening introduction is any indication, the “Baked” will be incredibly popular. The recently renovated bakery/café at Ancora has had a stunning, modern, well designed, functional makeover. It offers indoor seating and a generous outdoor area with tables and benches with views over the Tweed River. A three day open invitation to local residents at an almost too generous discount. Maybe a trial run to make sure there were no hidden glitches; not so, it ran like clockwork. A wonderful selection of sourdough bread, French baguettes and fruit spice loaves. Tempting sausage rolls, pastries, cakes and much more. We settled on coffee and the most delicious chocolate and marshmallow large flat biscuits fresh from the oven. Apparently a double chocolate version will soon be offered. Excellent coffee which arrived hot, and with our biscuits. So often the wait for coffee is too long. Apparently a full menu which reads well including fresh local produce will be available from 12 December, along with table service. The food selection has been carefully thought out, and should suit most tastes. I am always hesitant to give 5 stars at such an early stage, but this bakery has arrived on the Tweed when needed, in the perfect location, friendly and efficient service, and café that makes you want to return often.
